It’s probably a good time to break the piggy bank (in this prosperous Year of the Pig!) for a house downpayment this year; as great savings for homebuyers will be introduced under Malaysia’s new Home Ownership Campaign – happening on 1st to 3rd March 2019.

The event, in strategic partnership between KPKT and REHDA, will be held at the KL Convention Centre and will be participated by around 180 developers and banks. At the event, about 30,115 completed houses will be marketed, with lenders to help home buyers secure financing.

KPKT minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said that it is good to take all overhang units to be exhibited during the campaign and offer them to buyers at discounted prices, in an effort to offload RM22.5 billion worth of unsold properties in Malaysia.

True to the announcement made in Budget 2019 involving REHDA agreeing to lower home prices, the expo will offer a minimum discount of 10% to homebuyers.

Out of the total number of the houses on sale at the event, 35% will comprise of homes below RM300,000. Houses priced between RM300,000 to RM500,000 will make up 25% and the remaining 40% will involve homes above RM501,000.

Discounts will still be offered for leftover stocks after the event for a tentative period of 12 months following the launch campaign, the report said.

A quick check on MAPEX website shows a nationwide schedule of the event, with states like Penang scheduled for 7th to 10th February 2019, Negeri Sembilan in April and October, while other states’ dates are to be confirmed.
