The unveiling of the latest National Housing Policy (2018 – 2025) or DRN in January this year provided us with a clear direction of the new government’s vision for the housing sector in Malaysia. The latest DRN is constructed with 5 focus areas, 16 strategy statements and 57 action plans – all addressing the current issues in the country’s housing market paired with measures to tackle them.

Housing and Local Government minister YB Zuraida Kamaruddin has been very proactive in the ministry’s attempts to realise the DRN’s vision such as improving the B40’s housing schemes and development, implementation of quality housing standards and many more.

Whilst the scale of pursuits is visionary, they will need active participation from various organisations and key players in the industry to be achieved. The Association of Valuers, Property Managers, Estate Agents and Property Consultants in the Private Sector Malaysia, or PEPS Malaysia for short, is keen to assist in a collective effort towards the betterment of Malaysia’s housing industry.

Established in 1984, PEPS Malaysia was founded through the spirit of cooperation and professional commitment among the sector’s private practitioners is an active body consisting of key players and practitioners in the country’s property sector with years of experience in their respective fields.

Property agencies, management bodies and valuers are not only able to consult but can also provide possible solutions backed with data that would greatly contribute to the implementation of the new DRN.

Moreover, PEPS Malaysia regularly engages the market at large with an example being the annual Malaysia’s Property Summit. Now in its 12th year, the summit explores current market conditions, trends and issues with valuable insights from a wide spectrum of the property profession.

With the new National Housing Policy, PEPS Malaysia is ready to go forward hand-in-hand with the government to strengthen the policy’s implementation and be part of the support system. With vast experience and in-depth knowledge garnered directly from the industry itself, PEPS Malaysia can definitely play an important role as we move forward to a better tomorrow.
